my take wud be D
i think u were caught between D and E
so i will elaborate on those

E is wrong not because resembles is wrong ,it isn't, but because the comparison in E is faulty
the problem in E is "that of Plato's poetic narratives " .if u read it literally then "that" refers to "work" so E effectively becomes "work of Plato's poetic narratives",which is wrong . for u can say "work of Plato" but we cannot say "work of Plato's poetic narratives"

First step is the meaning - we should understand that it is George's work remind us of the detailing and narratives, but not he himself. So, A, B, C are out.

Hey Guys,

Looks like this has pretty much been parsed, but just to finish it off:
In his work, George Santayana is more reminiscent of Plato's poetic narratives and Henry David Thoreau's obsessive detailing than Bertrand Russell's scientific precision

a. In his work, George Santayana is more reminiscent of
b. George Santayanan writes more like
c. George Santayana reminds one more of
d. George Santayana's work is more reminiscent of
e. George Santayana's work more resembles that of
(A) George Santanaya might be reminiscent of Plato, but not of Plato's narratives.
(B) George might write like Plato, but not like Plato's narratives (which don't write themselves!)
(C) George might remind one of Plato, but not his narratives.
(D) CORRECT! "...work is more reminiscent of Plato's poetic narratives..." Perfect!
(E) Here, work is being compared to that of Plato's poetic narratives. This would mean that Plato's poetic narratives have their own work, which is illogical. Also, we don't put the adverb "more" in front of verbs like this, only adjectives.

Right: I am more experienced than he is.
Wrong: I more ate than he did.
