When is it correctto use"having been "

I read this sentence in online but was confused when " having been " can be correct .

Dr. Hooker, the celebrated botanist,
having been called upon for his views,
said that they accorded with those of Mr.
Darwin, and that the Bishop of Oxford
did not understand them.

having + past participle is used to express actions that are finished and to show that one thing comes after another. Furthermore, there is usually a "because relationship between the two.

For example: Having eaten already, I turned down Megumi's invitation to dinner.
