to keep it short

Gerunds
:They are verbals ending with ING which act as noun.
For eg Travelling gives me immense pleasure. Try replacing travelling with chocolates ,(test for gerunds)

Participles are verbals which are used as adjective end with ING or ED,so they modify only nouns or pronouns.
For eg :talking parrot,crying baby

Present participles would be of the ING form and past participles of ED form

Infinitives
:
to verb form

functions as noun,adverb,adjective.

Hope it helps
