Something fundamentally wrong, please help

by ubhanja » Sat Mar 24, 2012 4:28 am
After 4 months of preparation (weekly 7-10 hours)though not in a very organized and focused way. Rather in a way to get a overall GMAT syllabus and prepare subject and topic wise. I studied primarily MGMAT 5 sets for quant and SC guide. And Beat the GMAT site.

Today , March 12th I appeared the first GMAT Prep 1 ,full length test. Results were not encouraging. I scored 640 (49 Q , 28 V).

Raw Score - 26 Correct Quant , 26 correct Verbal

Planning to take the actual GMAT after two months. Please guide what should I do to score 700+.

I believe , I did a big mistake by not appearing the full length test earlier.I would admit that in the GMAT prep , I came across some familiar questions.

1) Poor Time Management ; too many wrong answers at the end ,as I had to guess.

2) Sentence correction, 9 wrong answers , found the level difficult in GMAT prep.

3) During practice sessions and self study , have tried to solve too many tough quant questions ; but not able to answer medium level real gmat question under time constraint.

4) SC were really shockers for me. I had spent much time in going through the SC concepts in MGMAT. During pratice sessions , was scoring 70-75% in sc questions. But GMAT prep questions too difficult.

Here is what I am planning to do over next 2 months.
1) To appear more full length tests ; at least 1 in a week. Planning to buy 6 MGMAT full length CAT set

2) How to improve my SC skills ?

Please guide what else I can do to improve my score to 700+. I have 2 months left.

regards,
Ujjal
