I felt like I did well during the test, but then I saw my score I was very diappointed. I felt like I bombed it, but now I'm thinking it was a good first run since I've been out of school for 10 years and I only studied for a month. I will definitely take the test again, and I need some advice on how to get my score in the 600s, but first a little background.

Early Jan, I bought the OG 12th Ed, and started cranking away at the problems. Even though I got a lot of the easier to moderate Quaint problems right, I could barely do them in less than 2 minutes (and that was before i realized couldn't use a calculator...without a calculator -- forget about it!!). For the Verbal section, I struggled with all CR, SC, and RC sections. I knew I needed more help, but I didn't want to spend the money to take a GMAT prep course.

I took the two GMAT CAT practice tests that I downloaded from mba.com and scored 510 and then a couple weeks later I scored a 560. Both times that I took the test I ran out of time on both the Q and V sections...I usually have about 7-10 questions left...not sure how much that screws up my score. I really like math, so I try and solve all the problems, but I know that it eats up my time like crazy...I don't know when to call it quits on a problem and move on. On the Verbal section, I notice I reread everything way too much.

I have read here in the forum that I should be doing these problems with a stopwatch, but I didn't do that this last month cuz I was more focused on relearning the basics. Now that I plan on retaking the test, I want to follow a better study plan/strategy. I want to score closer to 650.

Ok...so my questions are these:

1. when should i retake the test? in one month or two? how much practice time will i need to improve my time management?
2. what is the best way for me to improve my time management? try to to each problem under 2 minutes or do them in chunks (5 problems in less than 10 minutes)?
3. what else am i missing???

Thanks for all your help!!

37Q and 35V is only a 500? Thought it was mid 500s.
