Saw this in a sticky
GPA, major, school
- GMAT with breakdown (50Q, 44V)
- resume highlights, including company name, job titles and promotions
- extracurricular involvements (head of consulting group back in uni, got paid to help corporations. also president of my hs batch, so i guess in charge of the reunion parties and of keeping people in touch. mostly church and starting up own deal aggregator site as extra curric)
- awards, patents, publications, etc... (deans list ever since, scholarships, well i get published everyday as i work in a proprietary research publishing house)
- interesting personal facts - countries lived in, challenges faced, unusual interests (well i hustled myself into getting a research job in singapore coming from the developing country. so up until undergrad there, then professional life in another country)

Dear bleepbloop,

You have a competitive profile for any MBA program, including top programs like the ones you are targeting. If your citizenship is China, then you will be viewed as an international applicant from China. I do see many positives in your post and many opportunities for you to differentiate from other Chinese applicants with your background and experiences. Distinguishing your application from others that might be viewed as similar is critical and necessary to reach a positive decision. Use the essays, resume, recommendations, and interview to strengthen your profile and make your case for a seat in the class. Having a well-thought out and well-written application package will give you the best chance. Finally, it is prudent to have a mix of schools on your list rather than only focusing on the most selective programs if your priority is to be in business school. Thus I encourage you to identify a couple of programs to target for your safety options.

Good luck,
Lisa

Sorry for the horrendous English in my previous post and also for the lack of capital letters, was typing with one hand during that time. In any case, I am a Philippine citizen so I guess I have to differentiate against them although I do agree with you that it would absolutely depend on how I "sell" myself to the school- which ethnicity card am I going to play? how am I going to connect the MBA to my
"life story" etc. A choice of "Safety" schools would do well. Thanks Lisa! Might go for a consultant in the future.
