Was 70 the average (arithmetic mean) grade on a class test?
(1) On the test, half of the class had grades below 70 and half of the class had grades above 70.
(2) The lowest grade on the test was 45 and the highest grade on the test was 95.
It takes time and effort to explain, so if my comment helped you please press Thanks button :)

1) is not sufficient to conclude AM is 70

2) is also not sufficient to to tell whether the AM is 70

Combining also not sufficient, E

St.1) half of the class had grades below 70 and half of the class had grades above 70. this doesn't mean it will give average of 70 ....not suff.
St.2) lowest and highest are 45 and 95 respectively ...This also don't shows that avg =70 ===insuff.

if we combine both then also we can't say that avg. = 70
