On a scale that measures the intensity of a certain phenomenon, a reading of n+1 corresponds to an intensity that is 10 times the intensity corresponding to a reading of n. On that scale, the intensity corresponding to a reading of 8 is how many times as great as the intensity corresponding to a reading of 3?

A) 5
B) 50
C) 10^5
D) 5^10
E) 8^10 - 3^10

It should be C

Intensity of n+1 increases exponentially from the intensity of n. Consider the intensity reading '3', Reading '4' is 10 times the reading of '3'. Reading '5' is 10 times the reading of '4'... and so on.

So, Reading '8' is (10*10*10*10*10) times the Reading '3'. Which is nothing but 10^5

You are right.

OG's Explanation is not that great imo

Explaination:
Since 8 can be obtained from 3 by "adding 1" five times, the intensity reading is greater by a factor of (10)(10)(10)(10)(10) = 10^5.

Answer is C
