Dear Arun,

Based on the information provided, I think you have the foundation for a competitive application. However, you are targeting highly competitive/selective business schools with a profile that is over-represented in the global applicant pool. As such, your essays, recommendations, and interviews are critical to the ultimate decision. Be sure to convey your successful leadership and teamwork experiences in your essays as well as a solid rationale for getting your MBA in relation to your past experiences and future career goals. To have the best chance at the schools you mention, you will need to have a GMAT in the 700s, 750+ for top 10 programs. Lastly, you will want to find a way to distinguish yourself from others in the pool with a similar profile. Taking on a leadership role in an extracurricular/community activity is a possible way to do that.

Best of luck,
Lisa

Thanx a lot lisa.

You mentioned about leadership roles in extra-cocurricular activites....
I have been the captain of my cricket team in college as wel as school
What other leadership roles can be taken. It would be great if you can provide some examples.
I have won first prize in an all india robotics event.
There are a few awards in my kitty as well which can show my leadershipe capabilities.
Also in the previous post i forgot to mention that i currently also represent my company in various corporate cricket tournament.
Sports as a extra-curricular activity gets how much importance.

Can you also tell me the average and median score required for NUS.

Regards
Arun

Arun,

You will want to consult NUS for current averages and other requirements.

Schools are interested in what you have done in your personal life since college--not necessarily activities you were involved in during college. Sports is helpful in that there are teamwork and (potentially) leadership skills that you develop in playing team sports. Schools also value work with community organizations.

Good luck,
Lisa
