"In a recent citywide poll, fifteen percent more residents said that they watch television programs about the visual arts than was the case in a poll conducted five years ago. During these past five years, the number of people visiting our city's art museums has increased by a similar percentage. Since the corporate funding that supports public television, where most of the visual arts programs appear, is now being threatened with severe cuts, we can expect that attendance at our city's art museums will also start to decrease. Thus some of the city's funds for supporting the arts should be reallocated to public television."

==============================

The memorandum suggests the importance of a particular mode of promotion and the proposition is proofed using statistical relationship. The author's aspersions about the effect of fund cuts seem to be fairly reasonable I support his idea.There are few reasons to support his argument.

The author has used statistical tool to analyze the growth of population for last 5 years. he mentions 'during these 5 years' , instead of "in" five years , which implies he has been observing the trend on a yearly basis and found the direct correlation between people in contact using TV as their information source. Which is why where the upward trend has been seen with TV to a realistic mere 15% , expectation of a downward trend because of a probable termination of program could lead to a decrease in attendance too.

On another front , a thought on 'why the statistics shows direct correlation between TV program and attendance' can be known from the fact that Televisions give a comprehensive information about places fairly unknown to people. Generation upon generation of people depend on the documentaries and tour videos Channels like Discovery , NGC or History channel, with their beautiful camera capture and vibrant journalistic repertoire tend to make the art museums and other places look pleasing to the view and makes us respect the art . Further, through mass communication, the art museum collectibles are not a thing of price for an art student but also a knowledge seeking naive man who wants to learn art and spiritual motivation to draw that.

Lastly, these art museums need support for maintenance. Most revenue is generated by visitors and tourists. The televisions have proven instrumental in promotion of museum.But in the peril of cost cuts, an investment from art lovers , who promote the art using parties and conferences, towards television documentaries will save or confirm sustainable viewership and attendance. if the funds for art are used for the sake of art itself,be it procurement or promotion, i think it would be a rational approach yielding high attendance in future. Moreover , this would also inspire juvenile artists and sculptors to use Television documentaries as a platform to show their exquisite collections , invoking interest among one and all.

In sum, the author measures the impact of mass media to increase rates of attendance after a careful study and his aspersions for the reallocation of some of city's funds from art lovers must also be done towards promotion of the same. Thus it leaves us in no doubts of his good and calculated intentions which are certainly for a cause, which should give some impetus to the art and culture of the city.
