AWA Issue - Time Management

Some people believe that the best approach to effective time management is to make detailed daily and long-term plans and then to adhere to them. However, this highly structured approach to work is counterproductive. Time management needs to be flexible so that employees can respond to unexpected problems as they arise.

Time management is undeniably one of crucial keys which lead to success. No matter in study life or working life, the control over time plays a pivotal role. Many people believe that conducting life according to the detailed daily plan is the most effective time management. From my point of view, however, in addition to design long-term plans, people should also be adjustable to reach the maximum benefits of time management for several reasons.

Firstly and foremost, plan and actual practice is arguably disparate. People can allot their times on paper easily. In the real life, on the contrary, people cannot always be discipline. We are a part of society, and have to cope with many kinds of people who all come from various different backgrounds. Admittedly, sometimes flexibility is the must because people cannot determine everything as they want it to be. Forcing others to comply with own plan is too drastic, and can destroy mutual relationship.

Secondly, people may lose larger goal because of too much adhering to the plan. I experience this myself. I rejected to attend a meeting which my manager asked me to join without advanced invitation because I planed to complete an assignment before lunch time. Later, I found out that if I had attended, I would have gone to Europe for one-month-business trip. Since then, I learned that sometimes we do not necessarily have to perfectly stick to the schedule. We should never miss a chance because opportunity comes only once in a lifetime; otherwise, we would feel regret afterwards.

Finally, the real effective time management is to avoid the procrastination, and to reach the targets within the deadline. Even though many people attempt to adjust their time in accordance with unexpected situations, they become procrastinators in the name of flexibility. Some people are distracted due to laziness. Therefore, everyone should remind themselves that the most efficient time management requires both flexibility and punctuality.

In conclusion, people should manage their times carefully by setting their goals and attempting to reach them with flexibility. If you can adjust your time properly, you would attain your goals, get along with people, and never feel pity for something. The extreme strictness to the plan can destroy people’s relationships with others, and deprive them of the great opportunity to success.
