AWA Issue: Formal education...

"Formal eduction should not come to an end when graduate from colledge. Instead, people should frequently enroll in courses througout their lives."

Career is an important part of the life for many individuals. The first step in building career is appropriate education which allows a person to get needed knowledge and skills. I argue that without stated aims, education cannot contribute to the developing of career. If one is going to be a financial analyst, it does not matter how many historical courses he has ended.

Each person decides what education suits for him and conforms with his goals. For example, a friend of mine is a successful businessman in my hometown. He is very sceptical about formal education at all considering it not suitable for his creative personality. Nevertheless, I find him a skilfull enterpreneuor which has broad knowledge in the field of finance and business law. Moreover, he has been succeding in retail business the more than ten years. That example illustates that education, in a whole, is specific to each individual. Without clear goals supporting it, education for the sake of education is useless.

I view education as a small investment project which according to the financial theory is expected to return on money put in it. I can hardly imagine a person that would require to attend courses the whole life. Obviously, one should keep his knowledge updated and look for a new innovative ideas, but education can not be endless. Otherwise, one risks to loose his ultimate goal - turning acquired knowledge into practical results which are supposed to be income yeilded by the investments.

In general, suggesting to everyone to attend educational courses during the whole life is too broad advice which can not be useful. People can not study formaly the whole life because education without applying knowledge is a waste of time. In other words theory is dead without practice.
