Hey

I will be having a gpa of 3 at the end of my btech from a reputed indian engineering institute. will a gmat of 750, with excellent sports & other extra curriculars (i write) achievements, and decent leadership evidence be enough? i plan to take up a few interesting summer interns over my next two hols, so i hope that'll help. Can i hope to get into a mid-range b-school? And wat about an MSc IN MANAGEMENT in US or europe? Wat can i realistically aspire for, and wat are my best options? THANKS.... I want to know if i can realistically hope for atleast an MSc in Management in a mid-level school, or if its better I focus my energies on cracking the CAT (IIMs in india)

Hello,

Yes, I do think you’d have a chance at mid-level schools, both MBA and Msc in Mgt, but your key challenge as a less experienced and younger applicant will be to make a strong case for why now is the right time for you to pursue this path. (Note that the European programs generally prefer a slightly older applicant.) Also, the adcoms will want reassurance that you will carry your weight among more experienced peers in class and on projects, and your application should show that you will do so.

Worst case scenario, you don’t get in and you reapply. Reapplying isn’t fun, but it’s not a negative factor to most adcoms, so you don’t have much to lose by giving it your best shot now.

Best regards,

Thanks for the advice :) Just another doubt, though! Do you recommend me taking up an additional course in, say accountancy or economics, and trying to do very well in it? Or do you suggest I just concentrate on pulling up my gpa further and not worry on that count. Asking, because I have zero experience or exposure to anything commerce....
