At a time when it was unusual to do it, Dorothy Sterling wrote about such major figures of Black history as Harriet Tubman and W. E. B. Du Bois.

(A) it was unusual to do it
(B) it was unusual to do so
(C) doing that was unusual
(D) that was an unusual thing to be doing
(E) it was not usual to do


What is ref. for IT here???

Ans should be B

It can be used without a proper referent in reference to time and weather

for e.g.

It is pleasant today.
It is raining outside.
It is 3:00 PM already.

another thing to remember.

When ever you see do it and do so, the Q is testing do it vs do so

do so is correct and do it is always wrong
