48 houses have a patio implies that 75 - 48 = 27 have no patio.
(1) 38 houses have a patio but no swimming pool so 10 houses have a patio with swimming pool.
But that does not give any info on the houses with out a patio but have a swimming pool.
So, (1) is NOT SUFFICIENT.
(2) Let the no. of houses with patio and swimming pool = x, which is also the no. of houses that have neither swimming pool nor patio. And let y be the total no. of houses with pool.
Then 27 - x houses have no patio but have a pool, which is equal to y - x
27 - x = y - x implies y = 27
27 houses have a swimming pool.
So, (2) is SUFFICIENT.
The correct answer is
(B)
.
