Psychological research indicates that college hockey and football players are more quickly moved to hostility and aggression than are college athletes in noncontact sports such as swimming. But the researchers’ conclusion—that contact sports encourage and teach participants to be hostile and aggressive—is untenable. The football and hockey players were probably more hostile and aggressive to start with than the swimmers.

(A) Shows that "aggressive sports" athletes became more aggressive during and after the season. It also shows that the swimmers did not become more aggressive after the swimming season. Therefore, it definitely strengthens the conclusion that certain sports makes athletes more aggressive than other sports.

Here is how I approached this argument.

Conclusion: It is untenable that contact sports encourage and teach participants to be hostile.-->Contacts Sports Cause Hostility

Translated to: give me support that Contact Sports are not the cause of the hostility.

A is the only one that supports this conclusion.
