Pl. see the attached image.

In ∆BCD, we have BD = BC, thus, /_BCD = /_BDC = xº

=> /_CBD = 180 – xº => /_DBA = /_2xº

Thus, ∆ABD is an isosceles triangle with /_A = /_DBA = 2xº

=> AD = BD

Now let's come to the statements.

Statement 1 alone is insufficient s we do not know the measure of any side.

Statement 2 is sufficient since AD = 1; thus, BD =1. Since we know that BD = BC, we have BC = 1. Sufficient.

The correct answer: B
