IMO C.

The advertising executive is arguing in favor of the humorous commercials and, since this a weakening question, we are required to pick an answer that shows disadvantage of humorous commercial strategy. Option C tells us that in many cases people like the jokes/acts of the commercials so much that they fail to remember the product name itself. This defeats the purpose of advertising. So considering this fact, humorous commercials are not such a good idea.

Option D also looks good to me. Its a tough call.

Good, I understood your explanation.

C: Purpose of advertisement is to increase popularity, OR purpose of advertisement in a humorous way is to remember it easily. But consumer could not remember product name and hence he cannot buy.

D: did not discuss about the effect of humorous commercials.

E: Use of humorous commercials has been declining.

D is tempting indeed but what sealed C for me was that D states that a subset of the customers were unlikely to buy (not all), ie. that subset may be very small to the overall sample. "The consumers surveyed included people considered unlikely to buy the product..."

Finicky wording but that's was my take.

Hope that helps
