Is this question from a good source. Please be more cautions on the source. The non underlined portion itself looks bad.

The results of the company’s cost- cutting measures are evident in its profits

its doesn't have a pronoun in this.

Still i would go with C as it talks about last two years you would need a falling rather fell.

C for me. Bit more clarity on why A is wrong would help as i spent quite a bit of time going over A & C.

IMO "A" is using "it" for and its referent is "profits" which is plural.
There might be few others but I eliminated "A" mainly because of that.

A. which increased five percent during the first three months of this year after it fell
B. which had increased five percent during the first three months of this year after it had fallen
C. which have increased five percent during the first three months of this year after falling
D. with a five percent increase during the first three months of this year after falling
E. with a five percent increase during the first three months of this year after
having fallen
Guys

I know why A is wrong .. IT cannot stand for PROFITS. I will like to know when does one use INCREASED ///
OR HAVE INCREASED here..

HAVE' stands for a present perfect.. indicating that the sentence was written immediately at the end of 3 months..(if so)
How does one know which option to pick here...

Secondly, "falling over last 2 years " is it acceptable ?

IMO C.

There is a rule that I cannot remember its details. The action that takes place before"After" takes have + participle.

do not jump into checking meaning logic before checking grammar because meaning logic is harder to realize than grammar error

I am sure this is typical question of gmat

check grammar

"after doing" need a previous clause not a preposition phrase "with...) because we need a subject in previous clause to be subject of doing. D and E are out. For example, --after failing many times on gmat, I win --

"had done ...after had don..." in B is wrong. there is no this pattern, no logic of tense sequence.

"it" in A can not refer to "profits"

C is left.

this is hard but by checking only grammar we can win soon.

Just need bit clarification on option C,

It should be 'have been increased' instead of 'have increased', what's say?

Because, profits could not increase itself, someone increased profits, Correct me if I'm wrong.
