Discovery is so A B and E.

In E - , rotating independently of and more quickly than Earth’s outer layers, should be part of main clause - out

B-advancing studies of how heat from the inner core flows through
the outer planet - wrongly placed

A -wins.

Can you explain what you mean by "wrongly placed"? Thanks.

I also picked "A", but only because I saw two errors in "B". "B" unnecessarily creates a final clause by using a comma, and the final clause is not parallel because it omits "of".

Should be how heat flows from the inner core to the outer planet instead of how heat from the inner core flows through the outer planet.

I was in hurry last time when I wrote wrongly placed :D I should have written more precisely.
