IMO C.

A) Information here is actually opposite to what is given in the passage.

B) If your needs are less compared to others doesn't mean you have more purchasing power. If two people have $10 with them. One of them needs only one scoop of icecream that costs him $5 and the other guy needs two scoop of icecream that costs him $10. This doesnt mean that the first guy has more purchasing power. Both can buy the same amount of icecream with $10.

C) If the prices for the same commodity differ in these cities then the resident from the city where the commodities are cheaper will be able to buy more goods for $100 than the resident from the city where the commodities are costlier.

D) If you have more purchasing power doesn't mean you have to buy more goods. The argument only says that residents of city Y can buy more stuff with same amount of money than residents of X and Z can.

E) Contrasting statement compared to the information given in the passage.

i am confused between A and C
A says that cost of food and housing is less in Y.so though residents of city Y have more money they r spending less

I am really confused, i feel all answers are wrong.
I neither agree with A nor with C

A:We can not say this because they all have same income levels.
C:Where in the statements provide the information about sales tax or cheaper land - this is an out of scope answer choice.

Where these elements come from..
This is an inference question.. Nothing outside the passage allowed..
A almost restates what has been mentioned in the passage and hence is the correct answer...

As this is an inference question, no new elements/information outside the passage is allowed. Of all the answers provided here, 'A' is the best. All other other choices bring new information.

In case of inference type questions, no new information outside of the stimulus is allowed in the answer choice. C talks about sales tax and cheaper lands.This was not specified in the stimulus.

does 'spend less' mean that 'ability to spend is less'.....if we go by A, I guess we are concluding that......

Likewise said, C is out. I am confused between A and B. The choices are too similar. will go with A though. BTW what is source?
