This question can be solved with a mix of TESTing VALUES and/or Number Properties.
We're told that X and Y are POSITIVE INTEGERS. We're asked if Y is ODD. This is a YES/NO question.
1) X is ODD.
This tells us NOTHING about the value of Y. Y could be odd (and the answer to the question is YES) or even (and the answer to the question is NO).
Fact 1 is INSUFFICIENT
2) XY is ODD.
For the product to be ODD, BOTH X and Y must be odd.
For example:
(3)(5) = 15 = odd
(3)(4) = 12 = NOT odd
(2)(4) = 8 = NOT odd
Thus, Y is ALWAYS ODD and the answer to the question is ALWAYS YES.
Fact 2 is SUFFICIENT
