Hi, The following question is from Set 24.
The operation* represents either addition, subtraction, or multiplication of integers, what is the value of 1*0?
(1) 0*2=2
(2) 2*0=2
It appears to me that the answer is D for this question.
From (1), we can figure that the operator is addition, and so we can figure the value of 1*0.
From (2), we can figure that the operation is either addition or subtraction. Since the value of 1*0 would come out to be the same whether the operator is addition or subtraction, it is enough to know that the operator is not multiplication, which we can figure.
Then wouldn't the answer be D? The OA listed is A.
Can someone please explain? Thanks a lot.
