“ People who become successful through illegal or immoral means should never be recognized or rewarded for their accomplishments, no matter how great their other contributions to society may be. ”

Discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the opinion stated above. Support your views with reasons and/or examples from your own experience, observations or reading.

The author of this statement believes that those who become successful through immoral or illegal means should never be recognized nor should they be rewarded for their accomplishments. I agree with this statement, but there are always exceptions to this rule. Some people do what they have to do because there is someone else dependent on them. Some people are forced to choose the path that they take.

For example, hip hop artist Curtis Jackson AKA "50 Cent" was once a drug dealer on a corner in Queens, New York. He tried his success in hip hop at first, but was quickly involved in a drive by shooting, where he was shot nine times, one bullet hitting him on his left cheek. The money that Mr. Jackson made during his time of selling drugs was used to get him into a studio to produce new tracks. He used illegal money or better known as black money to pay these bills, which slowly earned him a name in the business. After his first albums was released, he become a multi-millionaire over the weekend. The album holds the number one spot on "the most sold album" list. Mr. Jackson became somebody through illegal means, but at the time he didn't know how to do anything else either. He did what he had to do to become who he is today, and he is rewarded for his arts almost every year.

Rumor has it that Bill Gates took his idea from Steve Jobs and called it his own. Steve had invented a computer with one clicking mouse, while Mr. Gates invented a mouse with two clicking buttons, which he patented. The second difference is that Mr. Jobs had a black and white monitor, while Mr. Gates created a color monitor, and used "windows" as a opening folder tool. Some claim to believe that Mr. Gates stole Mr. Jobs's idea, changed a few minor details, called it his own, and became a billionaire. This is an immoral means of making money, but Mr. Gates is recognized everyday not only for his services to society, but because he made life easier for everyone by removing unneeded paper work from every office, and also by saving millions of trees.

It is true that those who cheat should be punished, Barry Bonds was, just like so many others. Although, some people make some immoral moves, but if it was by force or something that cannot be proven or is just a mere myth then that person should be recognized and rewarded until proven guilty.

I wasn't sure on this, but wsa too far into the essay to change. I should have just agreed and talked about barry bonds and Shoeless Joe.
