A room is 2.47m long and 2.09m broad. It is required to pave the floor with minimum square slabs. Find the number of slabs required for floor.

Just figured it out, so M gonna answer my own question.

The side of the tile will be the HCF of the length and breadth

s = HCF ( L & B )

HCF of 2.47 & 2.09 is 0.19

Total Area = 2.47 * 2.09
Area of tile = 0.19 * 0.19

Number of tiles = Total Area / Area of tile = 143

Hence B

P.S. These seems far from a real GMAT question. I found it posted on BTG and no one had replied to it. Now I know why...XD

You're right, very far from a real GMAT question - the grammar alone is pretty awful! And this is heavier computation than the GMAT would require.

It can sometimes be good practice to challenge yourself with random not-quite-GMAT problems, but make sure you spend most of your time practicing with real GMAT questions.
