Am i screwed?

by tayooye » Wed Aug 22, 2007 4:58 pm
I have been studying like crazy but my score on the Kaplan CAT has been reducing?

Ist exam - 600
2 - 570
3 - 550

I have also taken the GMatPrep twice, scored 700 both times.

Please tell me, am i screwed?

GMATPrep is a much better indicator, and it seems like you are doing really well!

No, you are not screwed.
Keep studying. you are not screwed. the Guest is right. GMAT Prep is better indicator.

Yeah, the same thing happened to me. My first Kaplan CAT was 670, then 650, 610 and the final one 570. On the final CAT, I got 60% of the reading comp and 40% of the SC wrong. LOL! But I attribute that most to the fact that Kaplan's reading comps are 'way' too long, since I rarely have trouble with the OG reading comp. Some of them are close to 80 lines (500 words!). Their sentence correction problems also have some intrinsic differences from the real thing. They just feel funny.

My exam date is the 31st and I think for the last week, focusing on the OG material is probably best. Other material, such as Manhattan GMAT for Math 'practice' and not as an indication of scoring ability, is great but invariably leads you astray. Kaplan's verbal content is iffy at best.
