here the ,which refers to shallow coastal waters which is plural so the usage exposes is wrong

than in shallow costal waters, which exposes archaeological remains to turbulence and makes them accessible to anyone in scuba gear, whether they be

C,D,E can be directly eliminated as the usage of greater (Comparision) always requires 'Than'.

So in A and B we eliminate A because of the Subject verb agreement error as shown above.


SO IMO the answer is B

IMO B, A has Pronoun reference error, anyone & they do not go together

In option A Which refers to water, but water cannot expose archaeological remains to turbulence. We need to understand the meaning. the archaeological remains are LOCATED in shallow coastal waters. Ans it is this location(Place noun) that is responsible for exposing the arch remains to turbulence. and for place noun, use where on GMAT.

Also in option A it uses whether they be, but what is the antecedent of the pronoun they ?
You might say: ANYONE in scuba gear. But ANYONE is singular. and THEY is used for plural. So seems ambiguous.

I am not sure but i guess In option B, are exposed and are accessible seems parallel.

We can have expert comments on this.

Hey guys!

This is an Idiom question. The Idiom is: "more...than..."

Based on this we can eliminate C, D, and E right away.

Now we can compare A and B.

A. Shipwrecks are more...than..., WHICH verb...AND verb, whether they be X, Y, or Z.

B. Shipwrecks are more...than..., WHERE noun verb...AND noun verb, whether X, Y, or Z.

Both are parallel in construction, so the main difference is the "which" and the "where."

In B, "where" replaces a location, and logically refers back to the noun directly preceding it "waters".

In A, "which" is plural, as phanideepak correctly pointed out, so we would need a singular verb "expose". Furthermore, as sameerballani correctly noted, the use of "they" presents a problem. "They" has no clear antecedent.

The answer is B.

As he mentioned above - why can't water expose the arch. remains to turbulence? What's wrong with that?
