Weekend course suggestions?

Hello All

2 things hindering me from getting into my top choice programs:

1)Low verbal on gmat (47 on Math and 6 on essay) -620 total

2) Need more work experience (currently less than 2 yrs)

So while I re-study for the gmat and build my experience can anyone suggest some good undergraduate business course or courses in general that I should take that will look good on my application for next year? I am planning on studying entrepreneurship and international business.

Hi 700bound,

Some useful pre-MBA classes are calculus, statistics and economics. I'm not sure those classes are totally necessary in your case - an engineering degree suggests comfort with quantitative subjects, if you did well in those classes.

how helpful do you feel obtaining a professional certificate from nyu scps would be for my application? I'm applying to only top 10 schools. concentrating in international buss

Hi 700bound,

I don't think a certificate will make any difference, I would concentrate on taking relevant classes if you think you need the boost in your quantitative profile.

It sounds like you need to improve your verbal score on the GMAT, and by extension you may need to concentrate extra hard on your essays if communication is a difficult area for you. More work experience can only come with time, but you increase the quality of your work experience by taking on extra responsibility as much as possible.
