Mention salary or not

by Mr_T » Mon Dec 07, 2009 3:59 pm
Hi,

I was wondering if it's worth mentioning your salary in the application. After looking at pre-salaries from different schools, I was surprised to see that my salary is well above the average. Actually, my salary increase over the last few years is what is most impressive ( I think). I have averaged a 7% increase in four years.

Some b-schools ask your starting and ending salary, but most don't. Should I mention it?

Thanks,

mr_t

I think that it may be worth mentioning salary. If you are earning well beyond the norm, then business schools may perceive that as evidence that you're performing well at your job.

No need to be too humble in your application. :)

After getting a bit of advice, I think I won't mention the actual salary, but sneak in the salary increase % somewhere if it fits. The reason why I would very much like to mention the salary increase is because my official title hasn't changed over the last few years, but my responsibilities have. Everyone in my team has pretty much has the same title...

Thanks

Thanks for sharing that follow up, Mr_T. I like the idea of at least mentioning the salary increase %.
