Hi
I scored 740(Q 50 V 40 ) 97% AWA (4.5) IR (8) 93% in Gmat. I'm currently in final year of graduation and would most likely be working in Infosys after graduation.
How many years of work experience is recommended for admission into a top bschool?
Is it okay to work as a software engineer or do I need experience in management side?
How do I need to prepare from now for admission into Harvard,LBS etc?
Any tips would be of great help :)

Well, next you break out the champagne and celebrate!

After that, you need 3+ years of experience. IT is always a bit boring cause the promotion scales tend to be standardized. If you can get a "Sexy" IT job (like google/apple) then it's much better. Whatever job you DO take, you want to be one of the BEST at it (in comparison with your peers).

That is an amazing score! Welcome to the 700+ club! I completely agree with Jon - in the years ahead, focus on being the best. I won't repeat what he's said but what I will say is add my $0.02 on a side topic. Professionally, Jon is spot on - it's hard to differentiate so you have to be great. However, personally, well there you have a little more flexibility, right? So as you look to your involvement and experiences OUTSIDE of your job, look to initiatives that have impact, scope, development opportunities, and interest. If you can find a way to part ways with the herd, you'll stand out and, given where you're coming from in terms of profile, standing out can be the difference maker.

Congrats! A very good score indeed. Target top 10 business schools. Now you need to start working upon building up an impressive profile. Atleast 3 yrs of work experience is a must to get into a top b- school. Try to take up challenging responsibilities and focus upon enhancing your leadership qualities. Don't forget extracurricular activities. They too are an important aspect. Here also try to indulge in activities that show your leadership skills. Next would be a well framed essay. It should properly focus upon all your capabilities giving the adcoms what exactly they look for.
