I have been working on a spreadsheet to calculate the breakeven point for attending b-schools. I based this on the budgeted cost for attending these b-schools (cost of living, etc is included).
I put this spreadsheet together pretty fast so there might be some mistakes or something else may need to be included. I need to get some more data on the schools that I included. Also, I know I missed some schools so if you have a school you want me to add just let me know and I will.
Here is how it works:
1) Pick the b-school from the drop down box.
2) Select yes or no depending on if your a resident of the state the b-school is in.
3) Enter your current salary.
4) Enter the percentage raise each year you currently receive.
5) If you were accepted to a school and know you received a scholarship, then you can put in the amount of your scholarship.
6) You can change the expected yearly raise percentage after MBA.
7) You can change the discount rate for calculating the NPV. I just used 5%.
The rest will be calculated for you. Let me know what you all think.
