Is TOEFL that important?

by Rockkun » Sat Aug 28, 2010 12:39 am
Hi, I'm a student from Korea.

I've got 740 in GMAT(Q:51, V:38), 7.5 in IELTS, 99 in TOEFL.

My last TOEFL test was not scored. ETS couldn't evaluate my speaking section because of technical error.

At the same time, I took IELTS, and got the score I want.

The problem is that I am planning to apply many schools, but among them, Columbia, Wharton, Kellogg(JD-MBA), and

NYU don't accept IELTS.

Since those schools do not require minimum TOEFL score, I am thinking not to take TOEFL again.

Is my low TOEFL score critical to my application process?

I am thinking to apply 1st round.

I wanna listen to your opinion.

Thanks~

Hi,

Some schools do expect a minimum score of 100 on the iBT. Many others even have waiver options. You may like to check if thats the case and you can write to ask about the waiver. This is assuming these univs are not the ones you have listed to report your toefl scores already.

Can be frustrating I know!
