Hi,
Car travels for 5 hrs @50mph. so distance covered= 50*5=250 miles.
Gallons of gasoline used = 250/30 = 25/3.
So, fraction is (25/3)/12 = 25/36.
Cheers!

1 Gallon is used for 30 miles

Distance Travelled in 5 hrs = 5 * 50 = 250 miles.

Gas used = 250/30 = 25/3

Fraction (25/3)/12 = 25/36

50mph.
for 30 miles, i gallon used.
time taken to travel 30 miles = 3/5 hours
thus every 3/5 hours, 1 gallon is used.
travels 5 hours, gallons used = (5/3)*5 = 25/3

fraction of full tank = 25/(3*12)=25/36
