Re-taking the GMAT

by sharmeenkhan81 » Mon Jul 21, 2008 9:42 am
Hi - I just took my GMAT. Got a 660 but was really aiming for 700-750. Any advice on how long I should wait/study before re-taking the exam? I had bought the online practice tests from MGMAT - but now want to study the 8 MGMAT prep books as well. Was thinking of retaking the GMAT in 5-6 weeks. Please advise. Thanks.

Dear sharmeenkhan81,

How much time you need depends on you. You need to allow yourself enough time to feel confident you will increase your score. The only restriction on time is set by the test administrator--you have to wait 30 days between tests. If you feel you will be ready in 6 weeks, then schedule the test for 6 weeks from now. If you feel you need more time, then schedule the test for 8 or 10 or 12 weeks from now. Schools will receive the official score report in 2-3 weeks following your test date. As long as you take it 3 weeks before the deadline you are aiming for, you should be able to meet the deadline.

Good luck,
Lisa
