For the two essays required on the GMAT (analyze and argument and analyze an issue) I was planning on using the 5 Paragraph essay format that I learned in high school. Would that work, or is it too basic? I read some example essays and they sound a lot more advanced than mine. But I can't see myself typing up something that advances in 20 mins. I say 20 mins, cause I'm leaving 5 mins to plan the essays, and 5 mins to proofread and modify content.
The 5 Paragraph Essay format that I am aware of is like this.
1. Introduction, where you state the argument or quickly reiterate argument/issue, then state your stance. Quickly mention some evidence to back your, in this case 3 items to back your stance.
2. Expand on evidence or item mentioned in introduction.
3. Expand on evidence or item mentioned in introduction.
4. Expand on evidence or item mentioned in introduction.
5. Conclusion, reiterate stance and mention how evidence provided supports your position.
Can this format work? or is it too basic and sophomoric?
