#151 OG 11 Problem Solving

by drhomler » Sat Jun 16, 2007 9:35 am
Am I missing something here? The way I read this It doesnt sound like they are asking for anything:

A toy store sells all stock at a discount of 20% to 40%. If an additional 25% were deducted from the discount price during a special sale, what would be the lowest possible price of a toy costing $16 before any discount.

A)$5.60
B)7.20
C)8.80
D)9.6
E)15.2

"lowest possible price of a toy costing $16 BEFORE any discount"
This doesnt make any sense to me shouldnt it be after the discounts or before any additional discounts? 151/255 this one shouldnt be that difficult

$16 before any discount means that $16 is the original price before the 25-40% and the additional 25% discount..So you have to work your way through $16..By the way the answer is $7.20

Got it. The math is quite easy but the way I read that doesnt jive with the question. I hope I dont get any weird word construction like that on the real thing
