What is the point on the segement PQ such that it is twice as far from P as from Q?,Co-ordinates of P(0, -1) and Q(3, 2) .

1. (3,1)
2. (2,1)
3. (2, -1)
4. (1.5, 1.5)
5. (1, 0)

FYI....this is OG10, PS183


I was able to backsolve the question using PX= 2QX; if X is the point. But my question is, I read the solution stating that if the slope of a line PQ is 1 and the y intercept is -1, respectively, the coordinates of a point lying on the line are of the form (x, x-1). I'm not sure how this is derived and can we safely apply this concept?

you know slope and you know intercept so equation is

y=x-1

So coordinates would be (x,x-1)

Put any x and you will get y one less than it.
