Each of the 8 numbers s, t, u, v, w, x, y and z is positive. Is the average (arithmetic mean) of s, t, u, v, w, x, y and z greater than 46?

(1) The average (arithmetic mean) of s, t, u, v and w is greater than 74.

(2) The average of x, y and z is greater than 120.

OA should be A.
Sum (s,t,u,v,w) > 74*5 > 370
Which is sufficient to deduce that the AM of the 8 nos. would be more than 46.
Sum(s,t,u,v,w,x,y,z) >368
a lil' Thank note goes a long way :)!!

Answer A

1) s + t + u + v + w > 74*5 (370)

As mentioned in the question, all the numbers are positive x + y + z > 0, so the average is

(s + t + u + v + w + x + y + z)/8 >(370 + 0) /8
i.e

(s + t + u + v + w + x + y + z)/8 > 46.5

2) blah blah !
