Is the product of 3p and 4 greater than 20?

We want to know if 12p > 20, or if p > 5/3, so if p > 1.6666....

Dividing by 5 on both sides in Statement 1, we learn p > 7/5, so p > 1.4, That doesn't guarantee that p > 1.666..., so Statement 1 is not sufficient.

Adding 5 to both sides of Statement 2, we find 3p > 6, and dividing by 3, we learn p > 2. That does ensure that p > 1.666.. so Statement 2 is sufficient and the answer is B.
