however, is to focus on the specific task at hand and not to worry about results.”

The passage states that the key to success depends upon focussing on the current task at hand and not worrying too much about the outcome. Although, this advice seems fundamentally correct, but still one has to keep in mind the bigger picture or the tasks related to the current one.
Concentrating on one thing at a time is a valid point. Giving too much importance to things which are not important right now might spoil the current task at hand. For example, a company doing the research and development of a new product cannot start worrying for the marketing of the product straight away.
But the overall objective of a work cannot also be totally neglected. The ultimate aim of any work has to be kept in mind. It is the sole reason for the motivation of any work. For example, a football team training to win the world cup has to win qualifying matches first but at the same time its ultimate aim is to lift the world cup trophy. That is the challenge which motivates the players to train hard.
Another point mentioned in the argument is not to worry about the results. But results cannot be left unmonitored till the last moment. Getting correct results for one task might be absolutely important for the successful implementation of the next task. So a constant monitoring of results is required for different phases of a project.
In sum, I concur that giving full attention to the current task is important but also the overall objective has to be kept in mind. A regular monitoring of result is required to prevent leaving everything till the last moment.
