“In some countries, television and radio programs are carefully censored for offensive language and behavior. In other countries, there is little or no censorship.”
In your view, to what extent should government or any other group be able to censor television or radio programs?
Explain, giving relevant reasons and/or examples to support your position.
In my opinion, the censor board of countries must be provided with powers to curtail the inflow of offensive language and behaviour.
As they say, " Excess of everything is bad", hence, excess of such things lead to a degenerated society.
In my favour I put forth the following points:
We all are aware that society begins at home. But what we most importantly need to understand is that it also has its roots in media. What we watch today gets replicated tomorrow in one way or the other.
Today's genre is as much affliated with media as they are with their near and dear ones.It wouldnot be wrong to say that they learn as much from these things as they do from their parents. If there is no censorship, then we may well be heading towards a very big problem.A problem that deals with feeding small children with spoons full of violence, GMAT related activities and what not in their adolscence. Nowadys, we hear so many news pertaining to children imitating several things from television and radio.By watching the uncensored stuff , children develop a mind set which is full of violence, GMAT etc.
In the age when they need to hear soft spoken people, they hear people screaming at each other.Even the grown ups are sucked in by these things.
Secondly, keeping offensive language and behaviour at bay, countries like India which are rich in culture and diversity, will be able to preserve the same. The culture in India and subcontinental countries is intact with its softness in speech and general ettiquetes. If the censorship is removed, then these things will not be seen anywhere as we know that society is moulded ten folds through the television and radio. The violence cases, gang fights etc that we normally hear these days is just a trailor to the entire movie left uncovered. In the countries where censorship has been completely removed, people mostly children become aware of violent activities and GMAT related issues pretty early in there age which creates problems for their entire life.
Thirdly, Parents would be the first ones who would feel relieved if the censorship is kept in place.everyone knows that there is a proper age at which children should be introduced to some complex things such as GMAT and violence. If these things are aired on TV and radio which any hitch , then this would obviously give hard time to the parents of adolscents. It would become hard to watch a movie or anything along with the entire family.i feel the government should take proper steps to put censorship to a limit such as they can ensure that no bad words are being used in any form in serials and movies as well as on radio.in case of television, they need to be more carefull and should give a green signal to proper and nice stuff which can be watched by one and all.
