question

“Employees should show loyalty to their company by fully supporting the company’s managers and policies, even when the employees believe that the managers and policies are misguided.”
Discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the opinion stated above. Support your views with reasons and/or examples from your own experience, observations, or reading.

answer

Company management expects that all employees should be loyal to them and to the company. Companies apply various policies such as work-life balance, giving bonus and extra pay, providing extra facilities such as beverages and exercise rooms so that employees will work with company for long time and won't go to other organizations. In above statement author is saying that the best way to show loyalty towards comany or it's management is to believe them all times. I would like to say that I don't agree with author. Reasons supporting my view are as follows.

First of all, we shouldn't follow anyone blindly. We should always think, analyze and then make our decision. Chance are that if we blindly follow someone it will be harmful not only to entire society or other bodies but also to that individual or company itself. Along with that as no one can be perfect all the times chances are that company or it's management will make wrong decisions once in a while. Positive and healthy crticism can help a lot in making good decisions. I would like to provide example from Western India. In Western India "Jindal Company" decided to built it's coal power generation plant in rural area. But people opposing this plant proved that this plant won't only pollute the environment and affect health of people in that area but also it will affect farming and fishing industry to a great extent. In a way it can disrupt entire life in that part. I don't think in such cases employees should follow management blindly.

Plus, sometimes few wrong people in higher management can make decisions which are just going to benefit them and not to entire orgnization. In such case blindly supporting the company could destroy it completely. To make my point clear I would like to provide example of "Satyam Computers" and it's main director "Mr. Raju". Satyam Computers is (infact was) a big software company in India. Over the period of few years it's director Raju made few decision which will benefit just to him and his family. To raise company share value he showed wrong numbers about profit and business of company and few months back he also decided to purchase two of his son's companies by Satyam Computer's money. As a result of all wrong and corrupt decisions Indian Government decided to close the company. And now all employees are under the threat of loosing their job. Clearly blindly following the director has made employees to pay big prize.

Therefore, I think that active participation and crtisism of management actions by employees is required.
