Industry Classification Question

by MBA2010-2012 » Sun Sep 20, 2009 8:44 am
Hi Lisa,

I currently work in the finance/accounting area of a company which provides financial services but is classified as a tax-exempt non-profit organization.

For the purposes of my applications, do I classify myself as working with a financial services company or a non-profit?

Thanks!

Dear MBA2010-2012,

You should classify your company/industry as non-profit. If you can give more detail or pick a secondary industry, then you can put financial services there. I think being in non-profit could be an advantage for you as it is not as represented in the applicant pool as financial services.

Good luck,
Lisa
