There is a handy formula for such questions.
When the same distance is traveled by 2 different speeds , say x and y

avg speed for trip = 2xy/(x+y)

In our case we know y = v and avg speed is 5v/3

5v/3 = 2xv/(x+v)

Solving
x = 5v
