Hi ,
What do you think about procurement (purchasing) jobs in big companies prior to applying to top business schools? How is it valued in top business schools and also I am wondering Which functional area it belongs in class profiles?

Dear spcmngmnt,

Procurement jobs are great opportunities to learn about many business disciplines and gaining an understanding of how one piece of the pie (cost of inventory) can affect the bottom line. It generally falls under operations as it would be part of the supply chain. As with any professional experience, it is not so much what department, company or industry you are in as much as the quality of your experience that matters. It is important to show progression, accomplishments, and adding value to your organization.

Good luck,
Lisa
