Hey,
About a month ago I got a bunch of books (MGMAT guides, OG and some veritas prep) from Amazon. I started studying right away. My study plan: 4 hours a day in two sessions, 2 in the morning and 2 in the afternoon.
Before I started studying (and before I was even familiar with the GMAT questions format) I took the GMATPrep1 and the free MGMAT Cat. I got 530 (can't remember the Q and V scores) and 460 (Q20 and V32 I know it's bad) respectively.
I started studying on August 21st (and have been focusing ONLY on Quant for now) and today I took my first MGMAT CAT test (post first month gmat prep). I got a 590 (Q 38 V 33). I know I still have a long way to go (target score 700+) but I can't help feeling VERY encouraged by the 130 point improvement. What do you guys think? Are the MGMAT tests accurate? (I have read other posts that suggest that MGMAT Quant tends to be a bit harder than on the real GMAT).
As for today's test I noticed a few things:
- I have gotten much more comfortable with DS questions (still need to work on them a lot more)
- One of my biggest problems today was timing... it was all over the place.. I had about 10 questions to go on Quant and had less than 10 minutes left so I had to rush throught the last ones. (I have to address this issue pronto!)
- On verbal (which I haven't gotten to yet), I did very well on SC (average right questions 710). I know for a fact that I need to focus on getting on the 700-800 range cause as of right now I'm now getting many of the 600-700 range right.
- I had a bunch of time left on Verbal when I finished, so I guess I should have taken a little more time to make sure I was answering the questions right... anyway I guess I can take my time on the next CAT.
I got many of the 600-700 range questions right today (which is very cool cause I had lots of trouble getting past the 500-600 range on my first try)
Anyway just wanted to let you guys know how I was doing. Hopefully I will improve even more on the next CAT (which I will be taking next month).
Later!
