GMAT: 610 (V 34, Q 40)
UGrad: Carthage College, Major Communications
Minor (S): Public Relations & Religion
GPA= 3.19 (One bad semester of all D's- rest of semesters were above 3.2 with one 4.0 Semester). Also, I didn't take calc or stats in college, just an applied math class, got a B+.

During college, I was a journalist for the school paper, served on the board of directors (finance committee) for a local board of directors, and was a member of Students in Free Enterprise. I've also since been named to a energy-focused non profit board as treasurer in Houston managing roughly $1M) & volunteer in a local animal shelter, where I foster a dog monthly.

I recently completed the University of Texas's Energy Certification program (no grades, but very interesting EXec Ed). Also planning on the Investment Banking Institute class in Houston.

Top 5 Target Schools: Rice MBA (Part Time-Evening), Babson College (Full Time), Case Western Reserve-Weatherhead Full Time, University of Michigan 2 Year Weekend Program, Purdue Krannert FT, Wake Forest FT, and open to any other top-50 2 year programs, either part time or full time.

I'm planning on concentration in Entreprunerial Studies.

Work Experience:
One year Intern in Washington DC Energy Policy
One Year Wind Energy Experience (Finance/Business Development/M&A) For successful Wind Energy Developer
Was transferred to subsidiary biodiesel company for technical sales role (left because I hated it after 5 months)

Started a private equity firm with my father (He's an I-Banker, runs a boutique out of the Midwest) focused on Oil & Gas, where I've moved to Houston to run all M&A conversations/negotiations. I really only have to answer to him, but there are 5 employees of the "firm", but with deals, we'd be looking at 20-40 post JV. , Serve as VP of Bus Dev.
So far, we've been looking at buying an additional investment bank in Houston & setting up a business in midstream oil & gas services, focused on oilfield water services in the Eagle Ford Shale Formation.

Can you please gauge my chances and give me some pointers on how to get in? Am I skunked?

Not skunked at all. Actually you have a very interesting profile, with lots of potential. Entrepreneurship in an interesting business in a field that is doing VERY well, etc. etc.

The one obvious hole in the boat in your GMAT. And actually I would say even with your current GMAT you have a chance, for sure at least at the PT time programs, buuuut you may want to retake anyhow. IT can make the difference between an admit and an admit plus full scholarship. I know its a hassle, but if you are in no rush, think about retaking. 50 points higher can mean a much better program or a much cheaper education.
