by DevB » Wed Jul 30, 2014 10:40 am
Hi All,

Details are:

Indian Female
GMAT score- 630 (Q-47, V-30)
Work Experience- almost 7 years with top-most IT companies
Graduation- Computer Science Engineer
Extra Curricular- Very Good as I have worked with many NGOs and have won awards at State levels in the same.

Experts, please suggest which Indian schools should I apply to for 1 year full-time Executive MBA.

Thanks a lot in advance!

Dear DevB,

I guess you didnt mean to say Executive MBA there but MBA for Executives? Read here for the common confusion on this.

With your years of experience, you could potentially target the IIM 1 Yr courses or ISB. The GMAT though will make it a bit difficult though as the IT pool tends to score pretty high at these schools. Was that your first attempt? Any chances of improving the score? Without the benefit of knowing more about your work-related achievements, any international experience or not, tough to comment further on chances.

Hope this helps to an extent though.

Cheers,

Dear Manish,

Thanks for the reply. I meant MBA for executives- 1 year. This was my first attempt.
The problem is that the application process has already started and if I plan to give GMAT exam again then I will miss the application deadline.
I have a few months onsite experience but as a team member.

Please suggest if I should apply for IIM-A and B?

Thanks again!

I understand the time factor, but with that GMAT, it is likely to be super tough to stake a claim DevB. You could potentially explore the other IIM (L, I) or apply next year - unless applying outside India is also an option

Dear Manish..Any schools you can recommend where I can apply as I don't have much idea about B-schools outside India. I am sure there are many and you can't list them all but some recommendations would surely help.

Thanks a lot!!

DevB,

For reasons mentioned here, I cannot go into gut-based school recommendations within the constraints of such a forum. At that score though, it is likely to be a tough sell for the more popular ones out there. Maybe this post can throw some more light on the topic.

For Executive MBA programs outside of the U.S. start your research with rankings that align with roughly your GMAT score (https://www.mbaprepadvantage.com/blog/mb ... -rankings/).
