Fedora Convertibles began selling the Freewheeler - its newest convertible sports car - in May of this year. Fedora sent out a press release last month indicating that the Freewheeler's sales for May, June, July, and August totaled over 50,000. As a result, Fedora will in all likelihood easily meet its stated sales goal of 120,000 for Freewheeler's first year of release.

Which of the following would be most useful in order to evaluate this prediction?

Fedora is the market leader in this category of automobile.

Freewheeler is significantly more expensive than similar models produced by Fedora's competitors.

Fedora released a similar model in May of the previous year.

Sales of similar models of cars are typically much higher in the summer months than at any other time of the year.

I'm thinking C here. There must be something on the basis of which the company representatives can make this prediction and previous experience fits this.

A does not help much, because we do not know anything about the size of the total market (to compare sales figures) or the public's general reaction to newer models.

B and D actually contradict the passage. If we look at B, higher prices should mean fewer sales, which means that they might not hit their target. If D is correct, then the sales will probably not hit the 120 000 mark, since autumn and winter sales are below those of summer.

I do support fibbonnaci's statement that this is question is incomplete. I would also like to know the source, please.

again i find 5 options

IMO D

a) irrelevant

b)the price of the Freewheeler will not affect the relative sales from May - August to the rest of the year. incorrect

c)it does not influence the relationship between sales from May - August relative to other months.

e)does not effect the argument

Hey DanaJ,
You have written that E is contradicting the passage.

I find only 4 options which I presume to be A,B,C,D.
Was the question edited after the initial post because now only 4 options are listed.

(A)Fedora is the market leader in this category of automobile.
(B)Freewheeler is significantly more expensive than similar models produced by Fedora’s competitors.
(C)Fedora released a similar model in May of the previous year.
(D)Sales of similar models of cars are typically much higher in the summer months than at any other time of the year.

I don't see the E option and how it doesn't affect the arguement.

Kindly help!
It takes time and effort to explain, so if my comment helped you please press Thanks button :)
