DS question

Q18:
What is the value of the integer k?
(1) k + 3 > 0
(2) k^4 <= 0

A. Statement (1) ALONE is sufficient, but statement (2) alone is not sufficient.
B. Statement (2) ALONE is sufficient, but statement (1) alone is not sufficient.
C. BOTH statements TOGETHER are sufficient, but NEITHER statement ALONE is sufficient.
D. EACH statement ALONE is sufficient.
E. Statements (1) and (2) TOGETHER are NOT sufficient


Am i correct in saying that since 4th power will always be positive the only no tht fits is 0 and hence the
answer is B ?

Lets rephrase the question .

K is an integer what is the value of k ?

1. Rephrase :
k > -3

Could be any int greater than -3 not sufficient .

2. Rephrase :

even power of k is less than equal to 0 .

Now if k is - ve an even power of k will be + ve and if k is + ve even power will be + ve as well .

So k must be 0 in order for statement 2 to be true .

Hence B.

Yes u r rite, it can be answered from B alone.
